ABSTRACT
Introduction This chapter details the triple fragmentation of the academic technology transfer process in Brazil. One part of the fragmentation is due to scope reduction, by equating technology transfer to licensing deals. The second part is the unaccounted for technology transfer, led by foundations that are substantively connected albeit formally outside the university. A third rupture is systemic, by downplaying the historic virtuous partnerships between universities and research institutes.
