ABSTRACT

Since its creation the Personal Consultancy model has developed somewhat organically from being a seed of an idea into a tangible working framework ready for practice. It has been examined and dissected through a number of different lenses and discussed, appraised and discussed again. This process and those involved in it (colleagues, students, supervisees, clients and readers) have helped us to nurture, shape and develop the seed into hopefully the robust and healthy young plant that is presented in this volume. It reflects the excitement of new possibilities and embodies a sense of adventure, but we recognise that it will need continued nurture, challenge and guidance if it is to develop into full maturity. We also understand that we need to further challenge and develop our own thinking, learning and understanding if we are going to be responsible caregivers. For this we need continued input and feedback from a variety of sources because we believe true learning does not usually happen in isolation.
