ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the inter-agency approach to safeguarding children and considers the knowledge and skills of early years professionals involved in protecting children and young people through:

N the Common Assessment Framework (CWDC 2007), inter-agency working and the importance of their communications and relationships in these roles;

N the practice of observations and assessing children’s needs to provide evidence that then informs the team around the child;

N the relevance of power in professional relationships.
