ABSTRACT

This chapter looks at Tunde Oladunjoye's views in order to understand unique role that Nigerian "video sector" is playing, which is that of being the "first enterprise that can restore Nigeria's image in outside world". It shows the role that Nollywood videos are playing in sensitizing the youth regarding good behavioral patterns through cultural enactments that exemplify what youth as future leaders should know. For instance, they are able to know and share that sense of collective memory featured in the historiographies that epic narratives and others provide. The chapter looks at how Africans and youth within the African continent stand to benefit from such films as The Master, Hotel Rwanda and Blood Diamond, as they have not only brought out the vagaries of war but have set the pace for addressing societal ills that hinder Africa from meaningful progress in same way that African tales recall the past in order to lead the present toward a more rewarding future.
