ABSTRACT

Dual process theory has been referred to in many of the papers reproduced in this book. This includes the first reasoning paper to make a dual process distinction (Wason and Evans, 1975), the seminal belief bias paper of Evans et al. (1983) and the heuristic-analytic theory (revised and extended by Evans, 2006) which formed the basis for interpreting much of my experimental research. However, I have left this section to last as work on broader forms of the theory has dominated my most recent research.
