ABSTRACT
Grid/group theory provides certain opportunities and places certain traps for the historian. Some of these explicitly affect what writing history means, what the boundaries of the discipline are, how the undertaking should be performed, and how various other disciplinary tools of conceptualization should be brought to the aid of the historian. I can only touch on such broad matters in passing.
