ABSTRACT

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a person-centred, non-directive method of communication, which works collaboratively with the coachee supporting them to enhance their intrinsic motivation towards personal behavioural change, by helping them resolve their historical ambivalence to the change that they face (Miller and Rollnick, 2002; Resnicow et al., 2002). MI has its roots in the Rogerian, humanistic counselling style.
