ABSTRACT

The growth of coaching in organisations is a reflection of our ever strengthening belief in its potential to optimise individual and organisational performance and create a human capital advantage over competitors. The current estimate of the size of the coaching market is $2 billion per year (Fillery-Travis and Lane, 2006). Coaching is one of the top five development interventions for organisational executives and cases have been reported where it has had a hugely positive impact on performance (Corporate Leadership Council, 2003).
