ABSTRACT

Children are rarely asked about what digital access means to them, even though the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child mandates that policy-makers should consult them and they should have an active role in decision-making that affects their lives. Accordingly, this chapter addresses how children’s role in digital policy-making can be enhanced to better understand their perspectives and to give them greater input into the policy-making process. A more meaningful engagement with young people on this topic requires new approaches in the interests of better policy-making and an improved digital environment for all.
