ABSTRACT

Virtual studio is a term that describes a collection of technologies used to achieve real-time interactions with a previously photographed or computer-generated environment and, potentially, characters to facilitate such activities as virtual location scouting, a more fluid previs-to-final camera workflow, and live-action-like shooting in a virtual space. A workflow defines a procedure, or series of operations, through which a task is performed, and a deliverable produced. In defining a workflow, the task is the goal-oriented view of the work, and the deliverable is the resulting output – whether a final frame, some layer that will be composited into the final frame, or an element that will be combined with other elements to produce a layer.
