ABSTRACT

The chapter explores the religious uses of and attitudes toward social media among young adults in Poland. A critical attitude is clearly highlighted by many Polish respondents who say they prefer face-to-face communication over interaction on social media. At the same time, many respondents also report engaging in many forms of social media use for various types of religion-related purposes. A unique feature that stands out in the Polish data is the role of religious memes and the way they are by some used for religious reflection. Social media as a practical tool for interacting, finding information, and organizing events is also highlighted.
