ABSTRACT

Many of the sustainable development goals (SDGs) cannot be achieved without the livestock sector – which plays a major role in achieving those goals. All countries strive for safe, sustainable livestock production that makes a positive contribution to the SDGs worldwide.

But the entry points and transition pathways for livestock development differ markedly between the rich and the poor, between the developed and developing worlds. We must not allow the concerns and interests of the rich to jeopardize those of the poor.
