Globalization has expanded the scope of arts organizations and their donors, creating opportunities to attract funding from abroad. This chapter explores the efforts made by arts organizations to attract gifts from abroad. Case studies among 36 arts organizations show that the majority of the arts organizations receive gifts from abroad. Still, not all of these organizations proactively engage in international fundraising. Those that do raise funds abroad use different strategies: embracing the initiatives of foreign donors, engaging in fundraising activities in one or few foreign countries or, setting up an international support circle at the home organization. Through international fundraising, the giving potential among international audiences is cultivated. An additional advantage of international fundraising is that it diversifies the sources of income an arts organization is relying on and makes it less vulnerable.
