ABSTRACT
Critical race theory (CRT) was developed out of critical legal studies in the 1970s by legal scholars who were dissatisfied over the slow pace of racial reform in the United States. AsianCrit is a conceptual lens that can be used to understand the ways in which race and racism shape the lives and experiences of Asian Americans in the United States. AsianCrit informs CRT and CRT in education by providing a framework that can challenge the racialization of Asian Americans as a monolithic group. AsianCrit has been applied to educational research by scholars in combination with qualitative methods to challenge traditional notions of Asian and Asian Americans in education. Critical race feminism (CRF) centers on intersectionality and the multiple voices of women of color. Critical race feminism has been applied in educational research to highlight the unique experiences of girls and women of color in education.
