ABSTRACT

In previous articles and book chapters, my homie Julio Cammarota and I have recounted the essence of this educational revolution. How we met numerous times for many hours exploring the different teorías de la revolución educativa (revolutionary theories of education) that were in our minds that we could place on the ground to create something that had never been seen or done before. We realized that we needed to counter the traditional/oppression-based approaches that had been and are being utilized to de-intellectualize, dehumanize, uproot the historical and cultural memory, and create a state of obliviousness within our historically underserved student populations (see Cammarota & Romero, 2014).
