ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book indicates that the field of critical reflection is dogged by uncertainty and lack of clarity. It notes the importance of having the organisational culture support the practice of critical reflection by having protected time to engage in it. The book points to the usefulness of establishing a conducive culture at a less structural level within learning groups. It discusses challenges to group cohesion and suggests techniques form narrative therapy to help with this. The book corroborates the overall outcome of the experience as transformative in the sense of refreshing and reenergising regarding their practice. It regards vulnerability within teaching, reinforce how important it is to leave an opening for others to participate and connect with the teacher’s own learning process and how authority, as a teacher, can be shared through the process of demonstrating vulnerability.
