ABSTRACT

The Irresistible Project, funded by the European Union, consists of ten partner institutions who joined forces to develop innovative approaches to introduce students to cutting-edge research and development efforts and their influence on modern society. Each partner developed a Community of Learners composed of a research scientist, high-school science teachers and students, a member of the local science centre, and science educators. In each case, the students presented their knowledge to other students and members of the general public through student-curated exhibits that were displayed in schools and local science museums. This model, which integrates the framework of Responsible Research and Innovation and student-curated exhibits, can be used by science museums to help visitors think critically about the sociopolitical aspects of science and technology in order to promote science citizenship.
