ABSTRACT

This chapter examines how TESOL teacher-education programs can bring advocacy center stage while addressing the revised TESOL P-12 CAEP (Commission for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation) standards. The chapter details how graduate TESOL programs can use advocacy-focused assignments to address all five of the TESOL standards. These assignments help pre-service EL teachers develop an active advocacy stance and prepare them to be effective teacher-advocates.
