ABSTRACT

The first section of this chapter by Carol Weisbrod focuses on the common law world’s reception of the Law and Morality. This section also examines the significance of Petrażycki’s civil law background under the heading “Science.” In the second section, under the heading “Art,” Weisbrod discusses one way in which Law and Morality resonates with the interest in narrative, one of the contemporary approaches in American legal theory. In the third section, “Pluralism,” Weisbrod outlines the tension between Petrażycki’s methods of inquiry and the future he envisioned.
