ABSTRACT

This chapter explores dyslexia, entrepreneurship and transition to decent work with a focus on youth with dyslexia. It reviews dyslexia and entrepreneurship as an alternative to decent work. The chapter encourages participation in entrepreneurship as a way to accommodate the needs of youth with dyslexia and a specialised approach to transition to decent work. The chapter discusses the nascent entrepreneur is perceived as a person with a disability who over a period of time has been trying different business ideas in order to create decent work mainly for his or her own livelihood. Central to the empowerment of youth with dyslexia is creating opportunities for them to play a central role in how to address their needs for entrepreneurship and transition to decent work. In light of this chapter, impact must be measured in terms of a number of entrepreneurship opportunities accessed by youth with dyslexia and a certain percentage of reduction in unemployment and transition into decent work.
