ABSTRACT

Digital business is entwining information technology and the IT organization in most or even all of companies’ products and services. This has put enormous pressure on traditional approaches in all aspects of IT to transform, and particularly to become more agile. The struggle within development organizations is the best-known aspect, but the changes have extended beyond development. DevOps is the most famous of these extensions, but the need for agility spans the entire product lifecycle and value chain. Given that most IT organizations spend the majority of their budget outside the organization, sourcing faces particular pressure. This chapter explores how organizations are adapting to these pressures and becoming more agile to meet digital business needs.
