ABSTRACT

This part is meant for presenting definitions and the latest discussions on key issues such as disability rights, globalization, inequalities and poverty, international cooperation and representation. In this book, for instance, global disability rights are defined as human rights of persons with disabilities based on the UN CRPD being elaborated from international and global perspectives and stressing inequality reduction at different levels as a point of departure. Capability approach in development studies, human rights-based approaches of the CPRD and SDGs, and social model of disability studies are analysed to tease out the concepts of self-determination, representation and power politics at different levels that are embedded in these theoretical frameworks.
