ABSTRACT

In this chapter, Parrott offers a model for taking performance work outside the classroom to create events that are educational and rewarding for both faculty and students. Venues like storytelling festivals, academic conferences, performance festivals, partnerships, and on-campus events are just a few of the ways that student performances can have life outside of the classroom. The author bases much of his professional academic work on the assumption that leading students in these multifaceted projects has significant value, which results in opportunities that are memorable and meaningful sites of student learning.
