ABSTRACT

Lithuanians first started participating in the Nordic Network for Music Education in 2009, beginning with the Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences, which was followed by entry of our institution, the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre in 2016. Extending on the discussion of Lithuania begun in the previous chapter, in this chapter we offer an overview of the historical development of music education in Lithuania before proceeding to detailed description of a notable approach to music education developed in Lithuania, the Emotional Imitation Method (EIM). We describe the development and distinctive characteristics of EIM, consider its philosophical foundations, and offer detailed examples of how this method can be used for various objectives in the field of school music education.
