ABSTRACT
Dance history research provides students with an opportunity to explore past dance practices, people and ideas. This chapter provides a brief overview of historical research methods, potential topics to pursue, discussion questions, and sample abstracts. Dance history is a very accessible type of research. Formulating a good question, finding the appropriate primary resources, utilizing analytical skills, and disseminating a coherent essay/performance based on the findings make historical research a popular choice for undergraduate students in dance.
