ABSTRACT

This chapter examines the growing presence of unethical culture in the Asia-Gulf migration recruitment corridor and how it both: impacts the quality management of Gulf-based construction multinational corporations (MNCs); and weakens their global market status and excellence in the long run. It investigates the implications of creating an ethical culture on quality management and excellence, while the concluding section highlights the future scenarios and impacts of unethical culture on the quality management, excellence, and performance of construction MNCs operating in the Gulf region. Globalization is a deterritorialization process which “diminishes the necessity of a common shared territorial basis for social, economic, and political activities, processes, and relations”. Virtual social media pressures, in some cases, can be another determining factor to influence construction MNCs in their effort to uphold and establish a fairer and equitable recruitment process system for their global recruitment operations in the Asia-Gulf migration corridor.
