Black feminist thought book
Using Black Feminism as a theoretical anchor, this chapter will contextualize Black women’s sporting experiences by exploring the politics of race, gender, and femininity. The chapter will first introduce the reader to the concepts that frame Black Feminism by overviewing the works of, among others, Alice Walker, Angela Davis, and Patricia Hill Collins, before delving into intersectional stereotypes, femininity, and whiteness, highlighting the ways in which sport is a microcosm of society at large and marginalized identities and their historical contexts are inextricably linked.
