ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses the issue of prescribed endings in therapy, dictated by the time limitations of clinical placements during clinical psychology training. At the time of writing, clinical psychology training is a three-year, NHS-funded doctoral programme involving clinical placements, core academic components and research. Core placements are six months in duration, which can present limitations on the therapeutic work undertaken. This chapter offers reflections around the issues surrounding prescribed endings such as these.
