ABSTRACT

Part 2 of the book analyses the incessantly crucial role of Kashmir in Pakistan's domestic and international policies. Territorial claims in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir (IaJK) are constantly anchored in the official discourse based on the two-nation theory, which provided ideological framework for the inception of Pakistan. The centrality of Kashmir issue in Pakistan's narrative inspires to study its Indio-centric security dilemma and the way India and its policies are regarded, interpreted and politically constructed to deepen and exploit anti-Indian sentiments among Pakistanis. The study on historical and current dynamics of Kashmir-centred patterns of Pakistan's identity/nation-building strategies becomes more comprehensive when it goes beyond the territorial revisionism in IaJK and includes Pakistani policies vis-à-vis the chunks of the erstwhile Princely State of Jammu and Kashmir (PSJ&K) currently under its administration (Gilgit-Baltistan [GB] and Azad Jammu and Kashmir [AJK]).
