ABSTRACT

Neurological assessment is a good indicator of associated neurological changes with clinical deterioration. Not only can the neurological assessment determine subtle and rapid change in the patient’s condition, it can also help to detect life-threatening situations and deterioration and establish the extent of injury for those with head trauma. It is an aid in the diagnosis of neurological deficit and the measurement of progress. Assessing level of consciousness is a key area in the NEWS2 scoring system for recognising acute illness and physiological deterioration.
