ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on my extensive work with print and television media. Its four objectives are: (1) making the connection between public scholarship and public theory; (2) highlighting some key drawbacks and benefits for doing this type of public scholarship; (3) outlining some lessons learned over the 21 years; and (4) warning critical criminologists about the real danger in the idea of public criminology being coopted and exploited by those with a regressive political agenda.
