ABSTRACT

Platform I describes and reflects on how the author’s research methods emerged from artistic practice as an artist. Platform II describes and reflects on how the author’s artistic practice was expanded into research and used as a research method. Platform III describes and reflects on why the author established The Exploratory Research Laboratory and set up a method and approach for conducting research. The artistic research method is based on a ‘research platform’, whereby artistic work data is recognised. In Platform III the mission is not only to use the artistic method used in Platforms I and II, but also to create settings inspired by the format of the ‘curated discussion’ used in the PhD, in which a range of professionals meet in a physical space and interact in ‘form and thought’ and generate transdisciplinary knowledge.
