ABSTRACT

The research and development establishment in Bangladesh is fairly small by the usual criteria. It was not possible to get recent figures on expenditure on R and D. In 1974, this amounted to 0.2 per cent of GNP. In that year only 2,000 people were reported as being engaged in R and D. In 1983–84, this figure had gone up to 3,000 (Reza, 1984).
