The food commodity spike of 2008 brought the range and severity of threats to our global food supply into sharp focus. The crisis highlighted the fragility of the balance between food supply, global security, energy and environment and drew attention to the increasingly global nature of supply chain linkages. It also led to heightened concerns over longer-term threats to the environment and overall sustainability.
