ABSTRACT

Commercial poultry may be transported for a variety of reasons under a number of different circumstances, including from a hatchery to a farm, pullets from a rearing facility to a lay facility or broilers/turkeys and end-of-lay (EOL) hens to slaughter facilities (Nielsen et al., 2011). Fuelled by increasing consumption of poultry meat across the world (https://www.fao.org/ag/againfo/themes/en/meat/background.html), immense numbers of birds are transported daily, and the numbers are increasing.
