ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces the concept of ‘edutainment’, to consider sport museums as one aspect of sports tourism experience. His study finds that although sports tourism operates within a global touristic environment, stadium and related museum tours tend to be delivered from a local perspective, in a way that fails to connect the touristic experience with the wider contemporary context within which it occurs. The more that scripted tours give way to the interactions of visitors, especially young people, the more the sport museum tourist experience will result in ‘edutainment’ and enjoyment.
