ABSTRACT

The main purpose of the project was to trigger a sense of being seen and being part of to bring moments of relief, joy, and self-forgetfulness in the current situation. Most Danish theatre companies who took part in the Hodja project did not specifically consider "ethnicity/race" as a key parameter. The pilot project was implemented with 7 productions, performed 11 times for 620 spectators, and 14 workshops for 365 participants from 8 asylum centres and 5 schools. In all, including the pilot project, 22 productions were performed 51 times for approximately 2,900 children/young people, and 24 workshops were organized with 740 participants. Half of the theatre companies had some previous experience of performing for refugee children. This project was dedicated to the refugee children arriving in Denmark between 2015 and 2018. It is recommended to secure clearly formulated goals and objectives which can be both operationalized and measured by clear indicators.
