ABSTRACT
The International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) operates in increasing numbers of middle level schools in the United States. The author describes the history of the MYP, explores the development of its philosophy and framework as a component of the overall IB program, and explains the potential impacts it can have on both students and society. Barriers to implementing the MYP are discussed along with suggestions on how to overcome them.
