ABSTRACT
This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book describes the reconciliation of cultural differences in urban development is still hindered by colonial beliefs from community planners and politicians. It focuses on the waste management strategy in the Indonesian context that is still implemented today after 13 years. It explains the municipal scale in shaping an innovative approach for the implementation of the Smart City scheme sponsored by the national government. The book argues that some of the planning innovations presented were enabled through funding opportunities created to facilitate the implementation of the innovation. It describes a concession levy appropriation of 10 per cent was created to ensure a long-term and successful sustainability policy. The book demonstrates little impact from external factors in the development of planning innovations.
