It focuses on the waste management strategy in the Indonesian context that is still implemented today after 13 years. It explains the municipal scale in shaping an innovative approach for the implementation of the Smart City scheme sponsored by the national government. The book argues that some of the planning innovations presented were enabled through funding opportunities created to facilitate the implementation of the innovation. It describes a concession levy appropriation of 10 per cent was created to ensure a long-term and successful sustainability policy. The book demonstrates little impact from external factors in the development of planning innovations.
