ABSTRACT

This chapter explains the story of introducing people in ICI to new and challenging concepts in the area of human functioning, power and leadership. Often leadership development has made the assumption that people need to add skills to their repertoire in order to gain something extra that transforms them into leaders. Leadership is the ability to create environments where people can be appropriately human. This means that people are functioning well, they are clear about goals, directions and processes and they are able to adapt to changing circumstances quickly and accurately. The basic approach was to create a series of spaces in which individuals could connect to their own and each other’s humanity and become clear about their respective situations and goals. People tackle a variety of issues in their situations, both in their homes and at the workplace.
