ABSTRACT

The author demonstrates the diversity of the Christian epigraphy of Egypt and Nubia with regard to the languages used, the text bearers and local preferences for particular formulas and decorative elements. In order to do justice to the diversity of the material, he proposes a new approach that that is aimed at integration at the levels of language, sources and sites.
