ABSTRACT
Drawing upon the history of mentoring, this chapter explores the concepts of mentoring and coaching and specifically how it applies within policing. Given the complex differences between both mentoring and coaching, a clear distinction has been drawn between the roles and how these approaches develop individuals whilst influencing their professional identity.
