This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book offers a rich menu of varied experiences and analyses of the challenges of performing expertise in the field of conflict resolution. It focuses on three of the several strands that run through the chapters with an eye to what science studies can contribute to their analysis and their implications for practical policy outcomes. The book discusses the relationship between conflict resolution expertise, defined as 'authoritative knowledge related to specific conflicts', and everything else, which is excluded from the discussion by the very focus on creating and assembling the expert knowledge. STS has a lot to say about ignorance, whether manufactured and maintained by secrecy rules or as a side effect of boundary drawing around expertise.
