ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book offers a platform for practitioners, academics and concerned global citizens to identify pathways forward on the immense challenges of sustainability. It discusses a successful pilot project in the University of Torino, Italy, that pioneered new pedagogical approaches. The book discusses how a system of sovereign nation-states and a global economic system based on perpetual growth are fundamentally incompatible with the maintenance of a sustainable human civilization. It advocates for continuing efforts in promoting gender sensitivity and a sustainability focus in the marketing field. The book discusses the Canadian government’s formulation of “feminist” foreign policy in 2017 and the early successes and challenges in the policy’s implementation. It elaborates on how Canada’s feminist policy affects business practices abroad and impacts the Sustainable Development Goals in the affected countries.
