ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses some issues of trust and their influence on organizational culture in general and the individual motivation and relationship between owners and top managers in the context of new challenges to management in a new global economy. It shows how the issue of trust based on national cultural assumptions influences the formation of organizational culture and group behaviour at the deepest level. Organizational culture as an accepted standard of employee behaviour might be and should be the deterrent factor against political games. The structure of ownership, together with the history of entrepreneurship in Russia, causes some peculiarities in ownership-management relationships. In the old economy resources were distributed among firms irregularly and this fact caused competitive advantages for some firms and market vulnerability for others. In every culture there are shared beliefs about what is appropriate behaviour towards authority and law as well as shared instincts in those areas.
