ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters in the fourth part of this book. The part of the book brings together two renowned exponents of corporate universities (CUs) and e-learning to frame what they see as the issues for the immediate future and beyond. Jeanne Meister has long been an advocate of CUs and through her books and in person she has held the hand of many as they started down the CU road. In this part, along with her colleagues Jonathan Andrews and Thomas Kraack, she paints a picture in which CUs come of age in the adult world of tough decisions about business priorities and profit centres. A leading scientist from the Knowledge Media Institute, who has helped companies devise the means to achieve their learning and knowledge transfer aims, offers his informed insights on the technological possibilities for our children's lifelong learning.
