ABSTRACT

Scientists agree that rising industrial air emissions will heat the planet and cause drought, famine, violent storms, and other environmental calamities. Those of contributors in journalism who cover the environment have struggled at times to fully understand and then to engage news consumers in the seriousness of climate change. Environmental stories are rarely dramatic, and climate change is particularly slow-moving, difficult to portray, and a challenge in demonstrating how it affects individuals. A number of journalists have observed that no one ever broke a story announcing that climate change erupted today. The terms climate change and global warming are sometimes used interchangeably to describe a build-up in global temperature produced by human activity. Climate change can mean global cooling and either increases or decreases in global temperature, which can be spawned by natural events or forces. By the issue of climate change was being clearly identified as a major issue facing the world.
