ABSTRACT
As well as working on essay-writing skills, as a new Geography student it is important to develop your academic writing skills. In this chapter, we offer tips on how to do this, including the ‘identity, purpose, audience, code, experience’ (IPACE) approach. We discuss the importance of thinking about paragraphs, sentences and words, alongside attention to grammar and punctuation. We offer some tips to help you to succeed as you develop an academic writing style.
