ABSTRACT
Undertaking fieldwork is a key component of most Geography degrees. In this chapter, we discuss the importance of fieldwork and its multiple benefits to you as a Geography student. We reflect on what is meant by ‘the field’ and consider issues such as research aims, questions and hypotheses. We also discuss the types of data that may be collected or used in the field.
