ABSTRACT

The key task of American foreign policy should be to work with other nations to foster a multi-polar world that is prosperous, peaceful, fair, and sustainable. The result would be shared prosperity and a shared stake in a rule-based international order, thereby promoting peace, security, and development for all. The economic basis of American exceptionalism—America’s dominance of global production and technology—has come to an end. A far more sensible grand strategy for the United States would be to use its vast resources to foster global cooperation and the rapid global uptake of sustainable technologies. America’s effort in funding global public goods is indicated by their foreign assistance as a share of Gross Domestic Product. The NSS says of them the following: China and Russia challenge American power, influence, and interests, attempting to erode American security and prosperity.
